The atmosphere at the Crown after the final whistle on Saturday was superb.
A home win and a couple of top class goals make all the difference to your weekend.
It was also good to see some Blackburn and Burnley fans on the terrace to enjoy their respective loan players playing in red and scoring.
I wonder if this is the first time that a loan player from Rovers and the Clarets have scored in the same game for the same team?
Both goals were absolute crackers, Micah Evans (Blackburn Rovers) making his Football League debut in spectacular style.
With just five minutes on the clock he shrugged off four – yes, four! – Bristol defenders to smash the ball past the helpless visiting keeper. It was a wonderful start to a young lad’s league career.
The second goal was none too shabby either; a well weighted free kick from Luke Joyce found Kevin Long (Burnley) who dispat-ched a beautifully volleyed effort in to the roof of the net from edge of the area.
Rovers were no pushovers and they deserved their goal and for the last 10 minutes it looked like they might force a draw.
But apart from the sending off of Peter Murphy in the last minute all was well at the final whistle and three points were in the bag.
With our neighbouring teams having a bit of a dip in form at the moment their fans could do a lot worse than coming down to the Crown Ground to see their loaned players in action.
In days gone past the old chaps on the terrace would tell me of about how their fathers would take them to Stanley one week then Blackburn or Burnley the next. There was none of the over inflated rivalry in those days, just football and its fans.
