BLACKBURN Hawks have swooped to make a key signing.

The local ice hockey aces, who have won their opening three fixtures of the season, have landed netminder Daniel Brittle, a former junior at Telford.

Hawks general manager Graham Lomax feels it is important for Hawks' squad to boast two senior netminders as his side look to continue their superb start to the season.

"We feel the signing of Daniel will give us a better balance and more cover," explained Lomax.

"We thought it made sense to have two senior goalies on the books and I am sure we he will be a good acquisition for the club."

Hawks head in to their weekend English National League fixtures with rivals Billingham at the Arena tonight (face-off 6pm) and Bradford (tomorrow) in fine form and Lomax insists his side are really starting to show their potential.

"We had two hard games last week and we were successful in both so confidence is sky high at the moment. People were sceptical about us at the beginning of the new season, but we are already starting to show what we can do.

"Billingham were champions last year, so playing them should give us an insight to where we are now.

"Bradford have not been in the league for a couple of years, so we don't really know what to expect from them. However, we will just play or own game and it could work in our favour."
