BACUP Borough are third in the North West Counties Premier Division after a comfortable victory at home to Glossop North End on Saturday.

Bacup have claimed 14 points from their opening eight games after leapfrogging Glossop with a win at West View.

Right back Adrian Bellamy put Bacup ahead in the ninth minute after cutting inside and curling the ball into the far corner.

Daniel Cocks then provided the cross for Kingsley Williams to head home a second goal five minutes later.

Martin Cosgrave made it 3-0 with a minute of the game remaining, dispossessing a Glossop defended and finished well.

Former Newcastle keeper Max Johnson kept a clean sheet for the hosts on his debut.

Delighted Bacup boss Brent Peters said: “We did not have one passenger.

“Everything clicked and with it was breathtaking football.

“All the lads should take real pride in having the ability and technique collectively to produce that.”

Bacup now travel to neighbours Colne tomorrow night, 7.45pm k/o.
