CHARLIE Austin hit the woodwork in a fairly even first half at Pride Park.
The Burnley striker glanced a header against the left-hand upright from Ross Wallace's right wing cross in the 16th minute Austin brought a save from Frank Fielding towards the end of the half, and Chris McCann had penalty appeals ignored when he looked to fouled in going for the follow-up.
Derby looked dangerous on the break in patches, but a young backline of Kieran Trippier, David Edgar – who came in for the injured Michael Duff, Ben Mee and Brian Easton held firm.
They were backed up by the returning Brian Jensen, who made his first appearance of the season in favour of former Rams stopper Lee Grant.
Although the Dane didn't have much in the way of saves to make, he maintained a good command of his box.
