HAT-trick hero Gifton Noel-Williams has vowed to carry on scoring after ripping Barnsley apart last night.
Noel-Williams netted a sensational second-half treble as the Clarets stormed back from two goals down to overcome their Yorkshire rivals 4-2 at Turf Moor.
Michael McIndoe's brace sent the Tykes on their way until Jon Harley reduced the arrears.
But it was Noel-Williams who stole the show, scoring more goals in one match than in all of his previous appearances in a Burnley shirt.
The giant striker, placed on the transfer-list at the end of last season, was booed by a section of fans after coming on as a substitute against Colchester on Saturday.
But supporters cheered his name last night and Noel-Williams is determined to stay in their good books.
"Getting my first hat-trick, it is memorable," he said. "I suppose I felt it coming for some time. The goals were going to come from someone and it was me at the end of the day.
"Obviously the gaffer told me towards the end of transfer deadline that he didn't want me to go.
"I've had my ups and downs, but as a striker you get judged on your goals and I only scored two goals for more or less the whole of last season.
"I can't really blame the fans for not fancying me. I just hope this is a bit of a turnaround for me."
"On Saturday, I turned it around a little bit and hopefully now I can kick on and score a few more.
"If I say I blame the fans, then I'm lying. I don't blame the fans.
"If they are looking at people who have been performing, putting the top five performers at the club over the last season, I would not be up there and understandably.
"But I've got broad shoulders. I've got on with it and I get paid to do a job.
"Hopefully, I've shown the Burnley fans what I can do and it's up to me to continue that and to kick on now."
Noel-Williams, who was mobbed by his team-mates after getting off the mark, could not pick a favourite from his three strikes.
He added: "Honestly, all the goals have got a meaning. The first one is a breath of fresh air, the second goal was my best out of the three and the third one is my hat-trick goal, so I can't really pick one out."
Clarets boss Steve Cotterill last night paid tribute to his side and the level of support from fans.
Cotterill said: "That could have happened on Saturday, make no bones about that.
"Colchester got off lightly and probably Barnsley ended up copping what Colchester could have got.
"The performance was not too different. The chances have gone in for us. I'm delighted for Gifton but that's really a message to our fans.
"The difference in them tonight was a difference in us, because they were magnificent tonight. Absolutely magnificent. The supporters drove them on.
"It wasn't just about Gifton. Gifton scored the goals, but it was a team game.
"Andy Gray up there alongside him, the rest of the team behind them and the supporters behind them."
