BLACKBURN Rovers have urged fans to help keep Ewood Park a fortress this season after insisting they are encouraged by this summer’s season ticket sales.
With just three weeks to the big kick-off – at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday August 13 – the club has released an update on the ‘Take Your Seat Amongst Heroes’ season ticket drive.
And they have stressed the importance of the next few weeks’ of sales.
Simon Williams, head of commercial and marketing, said: “We are aware from discussions with the fans forum and other feedback that many supporters are concerned about rumours of disappointing season ticket sales.
“Not only is that incorrect, but very misleading.
"The reality is far more encouraging and, although we are slightly down on last year on a like-for-like basis (less than 10 per cent down), this is in line with our forecasts.
“The caveat to this is that the next few weeks are always a critical period for sales.
"The last couple of years have seen good sales levels on a daily basis right through to the first or second week of the season.
"We hope that this trend continues and that those supporters still waiting to make their purchase will do so soon.”
