NIKOLA Kalinic is determined to quit Ewood Park this summer as he attempts to force an end to his Blackburn Rovers torment.

The £6million Croatian striker has told Rovers he sees no future for himself in East Lancashire and sources close to him yesterday said it was in doubt whether he would travel to Hong Kong with the squad this weekend.

The Lancashire Telegraph understands a final decision on whether Kalinic would play a part in Rovers’ Premier League Trophy campaign in Asia had not been made, with talks ongoing between both parties.

Rovers set off for Hong Kong today and, at the time of the Lancashire Telegraph going to press, it was not known whether Kalinic would be in the party.

Kalinic’s representatives believe their player is being priced out of a move away from Rovers with owners Venky’s wanting to see a return on the club’s £6m investment.

Ukranian outfit Dnipro are understand to be interested in signing the striker for £4m but, with Rovers holding out for significantly move, Kalinic is growing increasingly frustrated.

A source close to Kalinic said: “He wants to leave the club. It is simple.

"He is 23 and needs to be playing and it is clear he won’t be playing regularly at Blackburn Rovers.

“It is impossible to see him staying at Blackburn.

"Every day they are looking to sign another striker and that shows it is time for him to leave.

“They need to respect the player and they need to let him leave. That is what he wants now.”

Kalinic, 23, has been left frustrated by a lack of first team opportunities at Rovers since joining the club from Hajduk Split back in August 2009.

He made just 15 starts last season, scoring five goals, and spent the latter part of the campaign left out of the squad completely.

Manager Steve Kean has claimed this summer the Croatian still has a future at Rovers but, as he continues to search for new strikers, Kalinic is adamant he needs to move on.
