BURNLEY Boss Eddie Howe could be turning his attention to Rochdale's Chris O'Grady in his search for a new striker following Chris Iwelumo's sale to Watford this week.
The 6ft 3ins targetman has been linked with a move to Turf Moor, after the League One side turned down two offers from Sheffield Wednesday – the biggest thought to be £250,000.
I understand Rochdale would consider an offer in the region of £500,000 for the 25-year-old former Leicester, Rotherham and Oldham forward and Burnley should have the funds available on the back of Iwelumo's exit.
In addition, Howe and new Dale manager Steve Eyre are believed to be friends, and Howe was one of the first to congratulate the former Manchester City youth team coach on his appointment at Spotland last month.
O'Grady was substituted midway through the first half of Rochdale's friendly with Leeds United on Tuesday as a precaution after complaining of a heel problem.
