SUMMER signing Danny Coid scored the winner as Accrington Stanley managed a slender victory over Cammell Laird in last night’s friendly.
The former Blackpool man notched the game’s only goal on 18 minutes, tapping home Charlie Barnett’s corner.
Stanley almost doubled their advantage before the interval, when another of their close-season signings, Kevin McIntyre, saw his deflected long-range effort fly wide.
In the second-half, Stanley pushed for a second goal against their Evo-Stik First Division North hosts, Calvin Crooks smashing against the bar and Dean Winnard slamming his shot into the side netting.
Towards the latter stages, substitute Peter Murphy saw a good chance tipped behind and Luke Joyce, on to replace Craney, went close with a dipping left foot shot that flew just over the bar.
