SCOTTISH striker Chris Iwelumo could be on his way out of Turf Moor with fellow Championship side Watford ready to pounce for the 32-year-old.

The much-travelled Coatbridge-born frontman, who scored 11 goals in 45 appearances for the Clarets last season, has emerged as a target for the Hornets, whose new boss Sean Dych has admitted he is keen on adding to his side’s firepower.

The Lancashire Telegraph understands that no bid has been made for the player, who was linked with a switch to Lancashire rivals Preston North End last week, but if Watford were to come up with the right price the Clarets would listen.

The return to fitness of £1million man Charlie Austin has boosted Burnley’s striking resources and he is set to lead the line alongside local hero Jay Rodriguez as the Clarets get set for another assault on promotion to the Premier League.
