DARWEN duo Jordan Clarke and Niall Burke and Chorley pair Will Moulton and Jack Bentham are in prestigious action today as they face a strong MCC team.

The Northern League quartet will line up at Kendal Cricket Club for the league’s U21s in the match and will be looking to enhance their growing reputations in the select side.

They have been picked for the prestige fixture after impressing selectors and team manager Clive Henderson is expecting big things on a day to remember.

“Over 40 players were put forward for selection from member clubs and I am confident we have selected a side that will do full justice to the league on and off the field,” said Henderson.

“One of the good things about Northern League cricket is that players get their opportunity to participate in games fully on ability irrespective of age and that means that the players picked in this side are all experienced cricketers despite their relative youth.

“This is a game we are all looking forward towards and it should be a tremendous occasion.”

The side will be captained by Netherfield and Cumberland batsman Alex Atkinson,19, and is joined by club-mate John Huck and Kendal’s Jack White.

Nathan Armstrong and Ben Willis (both St Annes) and Morecambe’s Chris Williams are also included alongside Fleetwood off-spinner Kieran McGann and the four locals.

The game starts at 11.30am and is based on a declaration format with the final 20 overs beginning at 5.30pm.
