FORMER Burnley FC manager Stan Ternent has been charged with assaulting a man following an alleged incident at the town's cricket club.
He was charged in his full name, Francis Stanley Ternent, yesterday after going to the police station to answer bail, following his arrest last month.
He was spoken to by police officers, who told him of the charge and was then re-bailed to appear before magistrates on Thursday, September 14.
A police spokesman said: "A 60-year-old man has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm and he has been bailed to appear before Burnley magistrates next week."
Earlier police said a 27-year-old Burnley man required stitches to his head after an incident at the cricket club on August 6.
Burnley had been playing Nelson in cricket's Worsley Cup final at their Belvedere Road ground when the alleged incident took place.
Ternent was later arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm.
The incident is alleged to have happened about 8pm. Ternent, who lives in Cliviger, was arrested three days later.
Ternent was Burnley boss from 1998 to 2004.
