SWIMMERS at Burnley Bobcats will be channelling their energies as they attempt to swim the equivalent distance of the English Channel – a week after club-mates did the real thing.
The club holds the sponsored swim at St Peters Centre on Sunday where they will be aiming to complete 1,408 lengths – or the 20 plus miles covered by fellow Bobcats when they completed their swim on Saturday morning in 10 hours, 59 minutes and 13 seconds.
Head coach, Michael Robinson, led six Bobcats towards the French coastline – a team that included captain Simon Nutter, Ben Nutter, Thomas Hamer, Joseph Gillam and Angela.
The club swaps open water for the calm of the pool when they attempt to cover the distance in two hours and raise funds for North West Air Ambulance Service as well as the Bobcats swim squad.
The event will have an official opening including a raffle, quiz and a barbecue afterwards.
Spectators are welcome and anyone wishing to donate money or sponsorship log on to www. burnleybobcats.org.uk
