TEST ace Brendan Nash is hoping to land a short-term contract in the Lancashire League after losing his place in the West Indies side for their series against India.
The Australian-born Jamaican batsman, professional at East Lancashire for the last two seasons and for Todmorden in 1999, has not been included in the Windies team for the second Test which starts today in Barbados.
And he has contacted several clubs offering his services until the end of the season.
The left-hander has made it into double figures just once in his past six innings, piling together a measly 53 runs at an average of 8.83, and there is increasing speculation that Nash’s international career could now be over, although that has been played down by the West Indian Cricket Board.
Chairman of selectors Clyde Butts said: “Brendan is a mentally tough cricketer and we are sure that he will be able to overcome the challenges he is now facing and come back strong.”
