COLNE and Nelson Rugby Club has won the Lancashire Ian Sinclair Youth Award for outstanding community work in and around Pendle.
The club regularly has five coaches each week running after-school rugby and tag rugby sessions in primary and high schools.
With the Community Rugby Coach Chris Lowden contacting and arranging sessions for these coaches, Colne and Nelson have organised a number of senior and junior coaches to head out and get schools playing rugby.
This has direct benefits to the club in terms of player recruitment which is seeing the club growing from strength to strength in an area dominated by Football and Rugby League.
The club has created a relationship with every school in Pendle which gives youngsters the opportunity to become involved with the 15-a-side game outside curriculum time.
