LANCASHIRE’S bowlers came off second best at Trent Bridge yesterday as Nottinghamshire gave themselves the advantage on the opening day in the County Championship.
The Red Rose was blooming as Notts were reduced to 12-2. But Alex Hales (51) and Samit Patel (52) repaired the damage and Chris Read continued the good work as he hit 58.
Lancashire were still in the box seat but Paul Franks made 69 and Kiwi Andre Adams clattered four sixes on his way to a 22-ball 37 not out as Notts were all out for 326 with Saj Mahmood (5-26) and Kyle Hogg (4-75) the leading bowlers.
Lancashire had two overs to negotiate and were 7-0 at the close
