Nelson star Nick Uttley stunned Saturday hero Anthony Harwood last night as he made it into the last four of the Harold Ryden Championship at Blackburn GC.
Harwood had taken the weekend honours with a breathtaking afternoon 65 to follow his morning 69 on Saturday.
That 134 gross gave him the strokeplay success – and he went out last night in confident mood.
But 2002 winner Uttley played ever so well on a damp night to win by one hole.
Tony Holt rolled back the years as the 1988 winner beat 2004 champion Gary Philipson 3 and 2, while Clitheroe’s Mark Ashworth edged out Rossendale’s Ashley Siddle 2 and 1 to book his semi-final spot.
The last four will be completed by Clitheroe’s Tony Flanagan, who beat Nelson’s Craig Fort on the 19th hole.
The semi-finals take place this evening, teeing off at 5.30pm and 5.45pm.
