METRONOMIC Jon Finch turned on the style with the ball as Lowerhouse took the Saturday bragging rights with a crushing win over cross-town rivals Burnley to cheer their boistrous fans at Liverpool Road.
All-rounder Finch put the brakes on Burnley’s reply as they tried to chase Lowerhouse’s 165-8 - and in a brilliant display with the ball he returned the best bowling figures of his career.
Finch’s 7-31 was the difference and it was also the fourth time the 28-year-old had collected seven wickets in a match.
In the end, Burnley were 98 all out to send the home fans home singing.
There was a demolition derby at Blackburn Road as rock-bottom Rishton were crushed by 144 runs by local rivals Church.
Church skipper Craig Fergusson led the way with a quite brilliant knock of 124 and Mohammas Jamill clattered 50 from 30 balls as the visitors racked up 30303 from their 50 overs with Rishton sub pro Dwayne Hees suffering.
Lancaster professional Hees went for 108 from his 15 overs as Church went on a run spree - and in reply Phil Gilrane claimed 3-19 and Andrew Bentley 3-44 as Rishton were 159 all out.
Nelson also claimed the derby bragging rights as they beat Colne by 82 at Seedhill.
David Crotty hit 82 not out and pro Luke Woodcock also made 82 as Nelson posted 248-6. Peter Dibb had also chipped in with 41 as Tom Lord’s men piled on the runs - and while they couldn’t bowl Colne out Woodcock claimed 4-62 as the visitors were well short.
Accrington survived an Enfield fightback to claim a four-wicket win with Ashar Zaidi’s 71 a highlight as his side got past Enfield’s 108 despite being reduced to 4-3 at one stage.
Gary Sudworth claimed 7-28 to bowl Haslingden to a 111 win over Rawtenstall and champions Ramsbottom beat Bacup by seven wickets at Lanehead.
The day’s only non-derby saw Todmorden coast to a 99-run win over East Lancashire with Ben Sutcliffe (91) and Simon Newbitt (81) finding form with a 152 stand for the first wicket.
Pro Qaiser Abbas also made a half-century and then claimed six wickets as the Blackburn side were well beaten.
