MANAGER Eddie Howe has given the thumbs up to Burnley’s home start.
The Clarets kick off the new season at Turf Moor on August 6 with the visit of Watford, who yesterday lost manager Malky Mackay to Championship rivals Cardiff City.
The 2011/12 season is book-ended by home games as Burnley host Bristol City on the final day - a fixture which naturally draws parallels to the promotion winning 2008/09 campaign when the Clarets thrashed the Robins 4-0 to earn a place in the play-offs.
However, Howe is looking no further than the first day as he bids to get off to a winning start.
“They are all tough games, and also there is a lot to happen between now and kick-off, but we’re pleased to be at home first,” said the Burnley boss.
“We’ve started the preparation and planning so it’s always good to know what lies ahead.
“I’m sure the supporters will be pleased we’re at home, and with the cup game against Burton to follow up after that hopefully we can hit the ground running.”
