Portsmouth manager Steve Cotterill has distanced himself from links to Burnley defender Andre Bikey.

The Cameroon international was understood to be on the former Burnley boss’s wanted list in January but Cotterill says he is no longer a player he wishes to pursue.

“It’s nonsense. I don’t know where it came from. I’m not in for him,” he said.

“I don’t know where it’s appeared from. There’s no truth in it whatsoever.

“If there was, the only time you’d read about it is when we’re signing them. That’s how I want to do it.

“If we’re signing them I want to speak to the manager and then let the chief execs do their bit, or let David (Lampitt) do the deal.

“So I’ve given him a couple of names and we're on with that at the moment.”
