Barnoldswick replaced Read in second place after beating their Ribblesdale League title rivals by five wickets at Victory Park.
Skipper Richard Nicholls played a pivotal role for Barlick as they inflicted a first defeat of the season on Read – and now they trail leaders Baxenden by eight points after Bash saw off the threat of Cherry Tree at Back Lane.
Barnoldswick restricted Read to 163-7 from their 45 overs at Victory Park with Stuart Hornby the only batsman to reach 50.
The Read professional made 57 before becoming one of four victims for Nicholls whose 4-83 haul from 22 unchanged overs also included Will Driver and Jon Harvey as he damaged the top order.
Matt Nutter (56) and Abdul Saddique (30) got Barnoldswick’s reply off to a promising start.
Umar Saddique also hit 53 and the home team achieved their target with more than five overs to spare.
After only 11 games of the season, it already looks like being a three-team title race and Baxenden remain slight favourites after gaining a good home win over Cherry Tree.
Professional Paul Turner was the mainstay of the visitors’ innings with an excellent 96 from 213-4.
But though Bash lost more wickets they passed their target with three wickets to fall.
Mark Rishton made a welcome return to form with 60 and top scorer Ben Swindells (65) also batted well as Andy Caunce’s men ensured another victory.
Clitheroe skipper Naeem Ashraf produced the innings of the day against Oswaldtwistle Immanuel with an unbeaten 133 as his reigning champions maintained their revival.
Ashraf was in glorious form as he made his runs from just 109 balls and when he teed off some 12 fours and eight sixes flowed from his bat.
Substitute professional Imad Wasim, Burnley’s regular paid man, then claimed 5-30 as Ossie were dismissed for 92.
Earby’s Ali Azmat enjoyed an excellent afternoon as Edenfield’s fall from grace continued unchecked.
Azmat finished with 6-54 as the Gincroft Lane outfit were restricted to 186-9 and then hit 94 as Earby won by three wickets.
Edenfield’s latest loss came despite 74 and 6-84 from Chris Read.
They are now second bottom after being top at the start of the campaign following three successive victories.
Of their last 10 matches, Edenfield have won only once.
Chris Holt claimed 50 and a five-for against Salesbury but Padiham still lost by 10 runs chasing 207 for victory.
It was a good game at The Arbories with Nelson professional Luke Woodcock starring for Salesbury as he filled in for the injured Susantha Pradeep.
The New Zealand class act batted beautifully to make 68 for Salesbury after skipper Jason Rawson won the toss and chose to bat.
Woodcock’s runs came from just 65 balls and included six fours and two sixes to help the Red Caps to their 206-8.
Salesbury then turned the screw with the ball – and Woodcock was the difference as he claimed 3-60 from his 18 overs.
Holt and Kevin Hitchen (43) shared 86 for the first wicket and Padiham were well set with Nesir Mehmood joining the professional at the crease.
But Holt was run out on 50 as Mehmood called for a single off Woodcock, who brilliantly fielded off his own bowling before throwing down Holt’s stumps.
From then on Padiham were up against it with Woodcock frugal to see out Salesbury’s third win of the campaign.
In the remaining senior league games Ribblesdale Wanderers beat Great Harwood by 34 runs helped by Brannon Varley’s 5-51 as the visitors were skittled for 108.
It was another impressive display from Varley to follow on from his eight-wicket haul against Salesbury last Sunday.
Settle remain bottom following a 121-run defeat to Whalley at Marsfield.
Richard Lamb top scored with 65 for Richard Palmer’s men, who made 183-7, before Settle were knocked over for just 62.
