PADIHAM skipper John Bushell is looking forward to a good battle with Salesbury tomorrow and would love to see a repeat of Nesir Mehmood’s sensational knock from last weekend.
Mehmood hit a quite incredible 159 not out for Bushell’s side but they ultimately went down to defeat against Cherry Tree.
And while that hurt, Bushell believes that sort of game can only be good for the Ribblesdale League.
“You don’t see knocks like that from amateurs,” enthused Bushell.
“Sometimes you get it from professionals and we did get spoiled over the years with Kashif Siddique and some of his innings.
“But Nesir’s knock was as good as anything you will ever see.
“It was amazing stuff and he never gave a single chance and certainly didn’t deserve to finish on the losing side.
“What a game to play in and watch – and that only reflects well on the league as a whole.”
Bushell’s much-changed side has impressed this year and he is keen to get back to winning ways tomorrow against Salesbury.
But he is also aware that nothing can be taken for granted in the tightest of leagues.
“Anyone can beat anyone else this time around,” he said.
“Salesbury have had some good results and they will not be hard to beat.
“We have a young side in the main and they are all developing as players and so far they are looking pretty good.”
Salesbury professional Sunantha Pradeep returns to action for the Red Caps after missing last weekend with a knee injury and that is an added bonus for skipper Jason Rawson as his men look for a third win.
