MARK Bolton wants to create a party atmosphere tonight as he looks to keep East Lancashire’s season alive.
Bolton’s men have flopped in the Lancashire League this season and were knocked out of the Worsley Cup by Ramsbottom – and that double hit has given the captain extra incentive to try and win the Twenty20.
East Lancs lifted the T20 trophy three years ago and made a good start to this year’s clash when they eased past Accrington in their only game to date.
And ahead of tonight’s meeting with Church, Bolton wants the people of Blackburn to come out and support the team in the short form.
Admission to Alexandra Meadows is free for juniors tonight and there will be music and a barbeque as East Lancs look to create a big atmosphere.
“We are trying to create a special atmosphere and get some people through the gates who we don’t normally see,” said Bolton.
“All I want to do now is order some 25 degree heat, sunlight until 10pm and some dancing girls and the night would be complete.
“But that’s out of our control and we are just hoping for the good weather.”
Church make the trip without wicketkeeper Sam Tucker but pro Saeed Anwar’s batting clash with East Lancs’ paid man Ockert Erasmus should be explosive.
Elswhere there is a debut for Rawtenstall professional Nilantha Cooray in the game at Bacup, while Padiham pro Chris Holt deputises for Rishton against Enfield.
Fixtures
Bacup v Rawtenstall, Burnley v Todmorden, East Lancs v Church, Haslingden v Edenfield, Lower-house v Colne, Rishton v Enfield.
