SIDECAR superstar John Holden’s bid to gain revenge on rival Klaus Klaffenbock was put on hold yesterday as racing in the Isle of Man TT was abandoned with heavy rain making conditions on the Mountain Course unsafe.
Holden and passenger Andy Winkle were revved up for the sidecar race two after defeat at the hands of Klaffenbock and Daniel Sayle in one of the best races of all time.
Fans were anticipating more of the same but the Supersport Race 2, which went off before the sidecars, was red-flagged with conditions unsafe – and after a delay of two hours marshals took abandoned until today.
Meanwhile John McGuinness hopes to avoid the birds in tomo-rrow’s blue-riband Senior TT.
The Morecambe ace, who took his 16th TT when he won Saturday’s superbike race, has struck three bids so far and said: “I’ve never hit so many birds during a TT and I think the wildlife community has really got it in for me this week. It’s three and counting .
“I hit one that shattered my screen. It was the size of a pterodactyl. Some of it started cooking on the exhaust it was horrible.
“People say Hondas have wings but it was reality for me as there were bits of it everywhere.”
