BLACKBURN Rovers defender Dominic Matteo could be heading to the Championship.
The 32-year-old former Leeds and Liverpool player is being tracked by several Football League clubs, who are still allowed to make loan signings outside the main transfer window.
Rovers chairman John Williams said he hadn't yet been contacted by any clubs about the future of the Scottish star, but he admitted the club might be tempted to let him leave on loan.
Matteo is yet to feature for the Rovers this season and manager Mark Hughes strengthened his back line in the summer with the addition of Dutchman Andre Ooijer.
Williams said: "I think that sending Dominic out on loan might be a possibility but at the moment I'm not aware of any inquiries.
"However, if somebody asked for him I'm sure Mark will make a decision based on the best interests of the squad."
