EAST Lancashire legend David Pearson became only the second batsman in the long history of the Lancashire League to pass 15,000 runs on Sunday.
The 48-year-old, who made his debut for the Alexandra Meadows outfit way back in 1982, reached the magical milestone on his way to 65 during Sunday’s defeat to league leaders Accrington.
He went into the match with 14,981 league runs to his name and as he shared a 65-run opening stand with Mini Bhada, Pearson passed the 15,000 mark to enter the record books in his 555th Lancashire League innings.
Pearson, who also has 578 wicketkeeping victims, made his highest score of 139 just last year, a day after making a century, the first amateur to achieve the feat.
