Accrington took over at the top of the Lancashire League on a soggy Sunday as they crushed East Lancashire at Alexandra Meadows while Lowerhouse were being rolled over at Rawtenstall.
David Pearson made 65 for the home side and professional Ockert Erasmus hit a patient 51 as East Lancs posted 208-4 from 50 overs.
The rain saw Accrington’s target reduced to 164 in 34 overs – but they didn’t hang around with Graham Lloyd hitting 71 not out and Stuart Crabtree making 54 they got home by eight wickets with nine overs and one ball to spare.
Lowerhouse were skittled for 76 at Rawtenstall as they lost their lead at the end of a bad weekend.
Defeats to Nelson in the T20 and Worsley Cup was added to by the heavy loss for Charlie Cottam’s men.
Rawtenstall made 114-7 from their 39 overs before Andrew Payne claimed 6-39 as Lowerhouse collapsed.
Church and Haslingden were foiled by the rain, although Church were well poised to get the win when the rain came down.
Haslingden were 104-8 from 29 overs and Church were in the groove at 70-1 in 19.2 overs when the players were forced off.
Nelson stunned Ramsbottom at Acre Bottom as they knocked off the champions’ total of 91 in just 18 overs.
Jamie Pilling top scored for Rammy with 23 with Neil Thompson claiming three wickets, making it nine for the weekend.
Rain meant Nelson couldn’t receive the minimum 20 overs – but Tom Lord opted to go for the full total and Stuart Lemon smashed 49 not out with 32 from Luke Woodcock taking the Seedhillites over the line.
Werner Coetsee claimed 6-29 as Rishton’s woes continued at Enfield.
Rishton were 110 all out with Abdul Biswoodall and Scott Greaves both making 33.
That was nowhere bear enough as Enfield dashed home with Asif Fazal making 46.
Bacup professional Jon-Jon Smuts enjoyed a fabulous day at the Horsfield as he single-handedly took Colne to the cleaners.
The South African smashed a stunning 170 and former captain Tim Farrager made 84 as Bacup piled up 316-7.
And then Smuts claimed five wickets as Colne closed on 157-7 after a long rain delay.
Todmorden claimed 10 points as they beat Burnley at Turf Moor.
Burnley posted 126-5 before professional Qaiser Abbas hit 38 not out as Todmorden reached a reduced target of 92 with one wicket down.
