Lancashire Lightning start their home Friends Life t20 campaign against Worcestershire Royals tonight at Old Trafford and keep the same squad that was involved in last night's thriller at Derby.
But opening batsman Stephen Moore has briefed his Lancashire colleagues that they will have to bring their A game in order to dispose of his former county Worcestershire at Old Trafford.
Moore continued his impressive form in the Friends Life t20 competition with his fourth fifty in 18 matches last night as the Red Rose tied this season’s North Division opener against Derbyshire at the County ground.
He hit 72 off 55 balls to keep the Lightning in the hunt right to the death as they chased down a daunting 191.
On paper, Lancashire will be favourites to chalk up their first win tonight against the Royals.
But Moore, who left New Road two winters ago, said: “They’ll be high after their first Championship win of the season earlier this week, and they’ve got some very dangerous players.
“This competition’s tough because someone can take the game away from you in 20 overs.
“They’ve got some powerful players, and we’ll have to be at our best to combat them. But we’ve got home advantage, and that should count in our favour.”
Moore may have not yet notched a hundred in County Championship cricket, but has looked a class act against the white ball in both 40-over and 20-over cricket.
He said: “I played nicely last season, and it was nice to get a few runs in the first game this season as well.”
Moore took a bang on his left ankle last night after inside edging a ball from Steffan Jones past his padding. He was hopping around for a while, but continued his innings with great effect.
In terms of his prospects of being fit for tonight, he added: “It’s a bit sore at the moment, but plenty of ice should see me right.”
Lancashire Squad: Glen Chapple (Captain), Karl Brown, Jordan Clark, Steven Croft, Gareth Cross (wkt), Kyle Hogg, Paul Horton, Gary Keedy, Simon Kerrigan, Stephen Moore, Oliver Newby, Stephen Parry, Luke Procter, Tom Smith.
