BLACKBURN Rovers boss Mark Hughes has admitted the day-to-day rigours of club management are more enjoyable than life on the international stage.

The former Wales manager is about to celebrate two years at Ewood Park, and while he looks back on his spell in charge of his country with great fondness, he is relishing the constant pressure of life at Blackburn.

Hughes said: "Both jobs, obviously, are very difficult.

"They are similar in some respects, but completely different in others.

"When you are working on a day-to-day basis, you have the players you know you are going to work with and you are able to mould them and form them into the team you have a vision for.

"In international football, it is sometimes like throwing all the ingredients into a pot and them hoping something comes out that is edible for everybody.

"It is a difficult job, international football. You do not get many opportunities to have and impact and the games come around and you have got to get points on the board.

"Club football is a difficult job, but it is stimulating and there are so many facets to it that on a day-to-day basis, it's more enjoyable."

Rovers, who have high hopes for the new season after securing a top-six finish last time around, have endured a difficult start.

"It is early days. I am sure we will get back on track."
