CREWE Alexandra could be set to join the race to sign Accrington Stanley striker Terry Gornell.
Gornell’s one-year deal at Stanley is due to expire next month and he has been offered a new contract to remain at the Crown Ground after impressing during the Reds’ march to the play-offs.
But the 21-year-old has so far remained cautious when asked about his future and it was always expected that he would attract interest from other clubs after scoring 13 goals this season in a lone striker’s role.
League One side MK Dons have already been linked and Crewe are understood to have the forward on their possible list of targets, with Dario Gradi likely to need replacements for Clayton Donaldson and Byron Moore this summer.
Stanley would be entitled to a fee for Gornell should he decide to go elsewhere because he is under the age of 24, but they remain hopeful he will opt to stay.
