Now, he believes Barcelona will have difficulty in stopping Fergie’s side securing a double.
“It is not going to be easy for Barcelona to beat Manchester United for one reason,” he said.
“I know in terms of quality and passing, Barcelona is the best team in the world at the moment. But I played against Manchester United two weeks ago and they defend really tight, they have a winning character and Ferguson is very important in that.
“Generation after generation, he has been able to convince everybody to learn. All the youngsters that have come into the club have learned to be winners.
“They are not playing fantastic football but they are really quick on the counter-attack and they defend really well. They will have a good chance – no doubt about that.”
