CHRIS Stanners is hoping to use his experience with Burscough to turn Clitheroe into FA Cup giant killers.
But first the caretaker boss is hoping his side can overcome North West Counties minnows Atherton LR in the first round of the competition on Saturday.
Stanners was part of the Burscough side that humbled Gillingham last season before crashing out in the second round to Burton Albion, narrowly missing out on a mouth-watering match with Manchester United.
He said: "It brings back memories of Burscough last year.
"It's a prestigious cup that gives non league teams a chance to come up against better opposition.
"Last year we were just one game away from playing Man Utd.
"That's great for the players and the extra revenue is great for the club."
Clitheroe lost their unbeaten start to the season with defeat at Buxton on Monday and Stanners is hoping to bounce back.
Centre half Shaun Grey, a loan signing from Morecambe, has been refused permission to play by the Shrimps, while strikers Yak Khan and Ben Stansford are both still out injured.
