MARK Bolton admits East Lancashire face two gigantic games this weekend as they bid to turn their season around.

Bolton leads his men into Lancashire League action with Nelson today before an Alexandra Meadows collision with Ramsbottom tomorrow in the Worsley Cup.

And he knows that both games are huge after a disappointing start to 2011.

“I think we have been a tad unlucky with the weather when we lost to Colne,” said Bolton. “But the simple bare face it that we have played five games and lost four of them.

“You could say that this is a make or break weekend for us.”

East Lancs were tipped by many to be in the mix in the league and are fancied for the cup but the 39-year-old added: “We knew this was going to be a tough season.

“We knew there was going to be an element of rebuilding going on – but we still want to be up there in the top third of the table.

“Nelson are in a similar boat. They have a really good side and it is unbelieveable that they have lost all their five games so far – so there is a lot on today’s game.

“And I would go as far as to say it would be pretty close to a disaster for the losing side.”

Bolton knows the Worsley Cup first round tie is also tough as last year’s runners up and 2009 winners Ramsbottom arrive in Blackburn – and he reckons the toss could be key.

He said: They’re a great side and it’s difficult to play against them.

“But they can struggle if they lose the flip and have to chase a big score. You have to have a bat first and bat well and get a good score on the board – and then you have to back your bowlers and fielders to perform well to put the pressure on.

“It’s a really hard game but you have to go into it believing you can win.”
