STEVE Kean has roared ‘bring it on’ ahead of tomorrow’s survival showdown after revealing the threat of relegation has never even been considered by him or the club’s hierarchy.

The Rovers boss insisted his squad were relishing their date with destiny at Molineux and claimed better times were ahead with a ‘very healthy’ summer transfer budget at his disposal.

Rovers travel to Wolves tomorrow knowing anything but victory will leave them sweating on results elsewhere to secure their top flight survival but Kean insists there has only ever been confidence around Ewood Park.

He is adamant Rovers will get the result they need to maintain their top flight status and says Rovers will not be relying on others for their trip to the Midlands.

Kean said: “We have got a mental mantra that is ‘bring it on’. It’s about taking your destiny in your own hands. I suppose there’s an edge of excitement and a desire to put it right.

“It’s more enjoyable being boss I wouldn’t say it’s harder. You’re more involved and you have more decisions to make. But I have the backing of the owners, the backing of the players. It’s there for everyone to see the way we play.

“It’s very enjoyable. There’s a lot riding on this game but we are confident. I’ve enjoyed the challenge but I’m looking forward to going down there and getting the points then FROM BACK PAGE looking forward to next season.

“We have never spoken about being in any other division. Among the squad, we're looking forward to the game, we're not dreading it.

"Mick McCarthy has rallied his troops and that's great, but we're in good form. The confidence is there for everyone to see, we're not fearing anyone."

Kean, who was charged with drink driving on Saturday night, said his meeting with owners Venky’s in India earlier this week was for pre-planned talks about next season.

He insisted the threat of relegation was not mentioned and said Junior Hoilett and the promise of ‘a healthy’ transfer budget were the main topics on the agenda.

He said: "The purpose of the meeting was to discuss next season's budget, out-of-contract players, Junior Hoilett in particular. We want extensive talks next week to try to agree a long-term contract with Junior like we did with Phil Jones and Martin Olsson.

"It was important to know what type of budget we had an it's very healthy. The wage bill won't be cut, there will be funds available.

It's a very competitive budget to achieve top 10 football. Miles bigger than Rovers have had in the past.

"I'll speak to them Sunday evening. We'll meet and have a bite to eat and talk over some plans for the summer. I'm going to go out to India for about four days, that will be more detailed, which will provide all the meat on the bone. I'll go in mid-June."

Since succeeding Sam Allardyce as Rovers boss in December, Kean has been blighted by constant speculation about his future at Ewood Park.

Venky’s have remained consistent in their backing of their boss and Kean insists he has full confidence they will remain true to their word/ "If anyone has ever spoken to the owners, the brothers or Mrs Desai, it's always been reactive,” he said. “She's been reacting to something that's been in the press about my future, the length of my contract.

"I spoke with her on Thursday and she just said 'I think you know us well enough now to know we are very honest people. Any types of issues will be discussed at a meeting'.

"It was all positive and most enlightening for me to hear what they want to do next season and the season after."
