Rossendale went down 38-14 at Sandal at the weekend in what proved to be a game too far.
Dale went in to the game with the slim chance of making the end of season play-offs had results gone their way.
But, in truth, Dale never really looked like winning a game they were second best in most areas.
Dale started badly, going down 19 points after only 15 minutes but showed why they’re the third best team in National League Three North by coming straight back with fine tries from Paddy Pole and Anthony Bingham (above), both converted by player/coach James Bramhall.
But that was where it ended as Sandal ran away worthy winners.
Bramhall said: “The players can be very proud of their efforts after coming third in a very competitive league and pushing for promotion to the very last.
“With a good pre-season and hopefully a few new signings to strengthen the team up, another crack at promotion beckons.”
