SPONSORS of the Grass Roots Heroes awards are delighted with the pub-lic’s response but have urged them to keep on voting for their stars.
Nominations have been flooding in for the awards which were launched last month to find East Lanca-shire’s sporting heroes.
The 10-category awards aim to recognise and rew-ard teams and individuals who have contributed so much to local amateur sport.
And Steve Fraser, manag-ing director of sponsors United Utilities is thrilled to see that so many people have taken time out to vote.
“I am delighted to see that so many people are supporting these awards. To get so many entries so soon just underlines how important grass roots sport is.
“We’re committed to the East Lanc-ashire area and are investing £160m over the next five years to improve water and river quality.
“These awards are another example of that commit-ment and we are very proud to be supporting local amateur sport.
“But there is still plenty of time to make your nomination so please keep them coming.”
