DANIEL ‘Dynamite’ Battrick has added another national kick boxing title to his growing collection.

The talented 12-year-old stepped up to the 45kg class to win the English title with a classy display to defeat Rajab Hussain.

The Mount Carmel High School pupil has now won four English titles and one British title.

Battrick is a member of Fit To Fight Kickboxing Club where he is coached by dad Billy who is also the club founder.

He has won all but six of his 50 bouts, drawing three and losing three.

His latest title fight was held at the Kalihoon Banquet Hall in Derby-shire. The five round contest was sanctioned by the International Combat Association.

Dad Billy said: “It is always hard to win a fight, especially a title fight in your opponent’s home town but Daniel came out all guns blazing.

“It was a great performance from him and the referee nearly stopped it twice but Rajab showed he is a tough character.”

Battrick twice kicked Hussain’s gumshield out of his mouth as he dominated the contest as his superior fitness and skill kept his opponent on the back foot.

Although he did not stop Hussain, Battrick was declared the unanimous points winner by the ringside judges.

Batttrick, who trains five days a week at the Accrington club, is now eying a shot at another British title at the higher weight.

Billy added: “Daniel is very talented but he is very dedicated as well. He has worked very hard to win these titles. We are now looking to defend the English title and hopefully get another shot at the British.”
