Steve Kean is bidding to find a resolution to Gael Givet’s situation this week with the Rovers boss hoping to be able to have the Frenchman available for the rest of the season.

Kean left the defender out of the squad on Saturday after claiming he was not in the right frame of mind due to a long-running contract dispute he has with the club.

Rovers will continue talks with Givet’s representatives this week.

While a permanent resolution to who is responsible for settling a tax bill may have to wait for the summer, they will seek to reach an agreement that will allow the player to focus on his football.

Should Givet and his representatives stick to their guns and decide to take Rovers to a Premier League tribunal the issue will continue to rumble on until the summer, but Kean knows the importance of having everyone focused on the scrap for survival.

The Rovers boss said late last week Givet remained fully committed to the cause and it is understood he was ready to play on Saturday, despite indicating to Kean he was not in the right frame of mind.
