CHRIS Samba has urged Blackburn Rovers fans to help make Ewood Park ‘hell’ for Birmingham City as he stresses the importance of returning to winning ways.
Rovers’ skipper believes their four remaining home games will prove pivotal in their battle to beat the Premier League drop, starting with Saturday’s visit of the Midlanders.
After Birmingham, Manchester City, Bolton and Manchester United are still to come to Ewood this season but, having lost just seven of their last 40 home games, Samba knows there is no need to fear anyone.
He said: “The home games are the key now. We know what we can do at home, we need the crowd to be like hell, we need us to be like we were on Saturday. Work hard, never stop and that is what we need to get the three points.
“The two draws have been really encouraging but we now need to transform those draws into wins. It has been a long time without a win now.
“Look at the league table, every point is going to count and every game is a cup final. It was an important point at Arsenal, look at the league table. Every point counts. We don't have to count on others, it is in our hands.”
The giant defender was one of a number of star performers in Saturday’s goalless draw at Arsenal as 10-man Rovers picked up a crucial point in their fight for survival.
Samba believes the spirit showed at the Emirates will prove crucial during a tense run-in as Rovers look to end their seven-match league winless run.
“The work ethic was really good and where we have improved a lot is the communication and the drive in midfield,” Samba told Rovers Player. “The two Jones’ have been excellent and Steven Nzonzi, even though he was unfortunate with that challenge.
“Roque held the ball well when needed and Junior is on fire. It was a real team effort from everyone and that makes it easier for us at the back.
“We tried to make Arsenal defend as well and we were able to keep the ball at times to enable us to recover and give power to defend again.
“We started where we left the Blackpool game and it was great to see the spirit, even with 10 versus 11 we never gave up, we kept tight and tried to keep the points.
“The seven games will be like seven cup finals. We don't care who we play, they will be difficult whoever we play.”
