BLACKBURN Rovers boss Steve Kean was delighted after his side secured a 0-0 draw at Arsenal tonight despite finishing the game with 10 men.
Steven Nzonzi was shown a straight red card for a tackle on Laurent Koscielny with 15 minutes left but Rovers defended resolutely to come away with a point and boost their survival chances.
“It hasn’t been too often we’ve been here in the past and got anything so we’re delighted with a point,” said Kean.
“I think what we’ve showed today is the spirit we’ve shown over a couple of weeks.
“We’ve shown commitment, we’ve shown togetherness and I thought that was typified today when we went down to 10 men.
“We dug in and performed, more so without the ball because we never really had it too much, but we showed how much we wanted to get something out of the game.
“Obviously we were down to 10 men and you’re thinking is it going to be a pivotal point, are they going to grind us down?
“They put Bendtner and Chamakh on and starting putting crosses into the box but I thought we dealt with it and thoroughly deserved at least a point.
“The key thing for us was making sure our midfield three got to grips with the Arsenal midfield three and I thought we did that really well after the first 10 or 15 minutes.
“Our midfield three were excellent and that helped our back four, who didn’t really give too many opportunities to Arsenal’s attack.”
