I WAS going to start today’s column by talking about the man of the moment Ian Craney as he chalked up his 50th goal for the Reds in Saturday’s win over Port Vale.
Then I thought it must surely start with Sean McConville as he capped off another impressive display with his 10th goal of the season.
But what about Alex Cisak?
Another clean sheet for the impressive shot stopper who is growing in confidence with every game.
I have also been very impressed by Terry Gornell since he returned to the Crown Ground. He works tirelessly and reminds me of a young Kenny Dalglish with his presence and movement in and around the box.
He is a fantastic asset to the club and a real crowd favourite.
Let’s not forget about captain Andy Procter, who scored for the second match running.
All these players are in the middle of a purple patch and I cannot single out any of the current squad for anything less than 100 per cent praise.
But given the recent stats – five home wins on the bounce, 13 goals scored in our last five home victories, only two defeats in our last 10 games, all done on delayed wages and with a style of play that should be gracing a much higher league – the real man of the moment is our illustrious leader, John Coleman.
Not forgetting Jimmy Bell, our management duo are a footballing wonder of the world. I chatted to a few Vale fans before the game and they would give anything to have John and Jimmy at their club.
But as their club is £3.5m in debt, they have even less to offer the pair than we do.
