LANCASHIRE got the green light for their development of Old Trafford yesterday - and it is good news in the fact that the famous old ground can continue to stage international cricket.
But rather than sitting on their laurels, the powers that be at Red Rose HQ need to take the recent events as a warning.
Over the years the home of Lancashire has been allowed to run into disrepair while crazy contracts have been handed out to overseas players who have not managed to bring the Holy Grail of the Championship back to the county.
Take a look over the Pennines. Look at the work carried out at Headingley.
That ground is spectacular - and it is a similar story down at Trent Bridge where Nottinghamshire have created a stadium to be proud of.
Lancashire will join that club after the work got the okay after a legal challenge was thrown out.
That is a relief to every cricket fan in the county - but rather than celebrating, the men in suits should be breathing a huge sigh of relief.
