KEITH Andrews is ready to fight on at Ewood Park despite the Blackburn Rovers boo-boys after the club turned away significant Championship interest for the Irish international.

Leeds United are understood to be just one a few lower league clubs who have had approaches to loan the midfielder rebuffed.

Andrews is now expected to remain at Ewood Park to aid the club’s bid to secure Premier League safety.

The 30-year-old former Wolves man has been targeted by a section of Rovers fans for abuse throughout his two and a half years at the club, but Andrews remains content with life in East Lancashire.

Now, after Crystal Palace owner Steve Parish denied reports linking Andrews to the Eagles, his agent has rubbished reports claiming he is set for an Ewood exit.

Agent Will Salthouse, said: “Keith loves the club. He has a contract for two more years at the club and he wants to stay.

"Keith is not looking to go anywhere.

“There has been interest from other clubs but Keith has not even spoken to them.

"The club have said they want him to stay and I can dismiss the rumours that he will be leaving.”

Andrews returned from a five month injury lay-off at the end of January and is still seen as a important squad member by under-fire boss Steve Kean.

With David Dunn and Vince Grella battling against groin and Achilles injuries respectively, Andrews could still have a key role to play this campaign and has been included in the last two first-team squads.

Kean has already rubbished suggestions he would only play Andrews in away games due to the rough treatment he is given by a minority of home fans and has previously publicly backed him.

Since being brought to Ewood Park by Paul Ince from MK Dons in August 2008, Andrews has faced a constant battle to win over some of the Ewood Park faithful.

He was only expected to be a squad player for Ince but a string of midfield injuries saw him make an impressive 37 appearances in his first season for the club, scoring four important goals in Rovers’ battle for survival.

Former boss Sam Allardyce rejected a move by Fulham to sign Andrews in 2009 and the midfielder was rewarded with a new four-year deal for his first season efforts.

He made 35 appearances for Rovers last season, as well as establishing himself as a key member of the Republic of Ireland’s valiant attempts to qualify for the World Cup, but has missed most of this campaign with injury.
