CRISIS club Rossendale United have been told they must play their home game against Vodkat League Premier Division leaders Winsford on Saturday or face expulsion from the league.
The Stags were left in limbo last week when manager Paul Colgan and his coaching staff walked out in the wake of the water supply to their Dark Lane ground being disconnected and other financial problems.
With club owner Andrew Connolly out of the country and no-one to run the team, Vodkat League chiefs took the decision to postpone last Saturday’s game at Squires Gate and tonight’s scheduled derby at Ramsbottom.
But they vow that action will be more serious if the Stags do not face the Cheshire outfit at the weekend.
Vodkat League secretary John Deal said: “The League Management Committee have now taken steps to inform the owner of Rossendale United that, unless they fulfil their scheduled fixture at home to Winsford they will be expelled from the Vodkat League as per League Rule 8.6.”
They could still be hit with a fine and a points deduction for Saturday’s postponement.
