LOVE him or hate him, Ian Craney has the ability to make a whole stadium hold its breath and then scream like children at the sheer audacity and majesty of his wonder strikes.
Two absolute stunners this week have sent the Ultras’ song writers into overdrive as words fail to do justice to the man’s talents.
Just as it looked like the 10 men of Torquay had saved a point, up pops our prodigal son and the fatted calf is on its way to the barbecue before you can say three wins in a row.
Torquay were a cracking team, indeed one of the best I have seen at the Crown Ground this season, but after a difficult period on and off the pitch Stanley are deservedly having the rub of the green of late.
I have to give a quick mention to Phil Edwards who as the cliché goes gets better and better with each passing season; he is a complete footballer with tackles that would be shown over and over again on Match of the Day if they had taken place on a higher stage.
We are indeed enjoying a purple patch and with nine home games remaining this season, our destiny is in our own hands.
At the end of the game as John Coleman, left, crossed the pitch to applaud the fans in the Clayton End the Ultras seized the moment and sang with pride how we are “going up with Jimmy and John”.
I hope the song sung by his Loyal Stanley followers reminds him that he still has unfinished business at the Crown Ground.
If we can reach the play offs no-one will fancy playing the best John Coleman squad ever assembled at Stanley and the odds will be stacked right against the Reds.
Just the way John and Jimmy like it!
