GREAT Harwood Golf Club secretary Jack Spibey has paid tribute to the club’s popular former club captain Ian Holt, who died on Sunday at the age of 76.
Ian, a long-time club member, was captain on two occasions, the latter in 1996 when Great Harwood celebrated their centenary, and was also club president for two years.
In a more recent role, Ian was the club’s public relations officer.
“Ian was a colourful character and will be sadly missed by everybody at the club,” said Mr Spibey. “He was very well respected.
“He was a member at Great Harwood for a very long time. I joined in 1975 and Ian was here long before that.
“He did so much for the club.”
