Taking the opinions of Blackburn Rovers fans into account, we have come up with his perfect player from the club’s Premier League history, taking different body parts from different players, to form the ultimate machine.

THE HEAD

Rovers have been blessed with towering centre halfs over the past two decades, with the likes of Colin Hendry, Ian Pearce and Ryan Nelsen all aerially dominant.

There has been no one better though than Chris Samba who has proved a colossus in the heart of Rovers’ defence ever since signing for a minimal fee from Hertha Berlin back in 2007.

Already a key member of Rovers’ squad, Samba’s importance grew during Sam Allardyce’s reign as he became a huge attacking threat at set-pieces as well as a defensive linchpin.

Heart

Nicknamed braveheart, cut Colin Hendry open and he would probably bleed blue and white.

The blonde-haired Scot earned hero status from the Ewood Park terraces for his no nonsense defensive style, his never-say-die attitude and his pure desire for success.

Few players can claim to have found such a place in supporters’ hearts as Hendry, with his bravery earning him legend status in East Lancashire.

The likes of Tugay, Brad Friedel and David Dunn all come into contention but the word ‘heart’ simply sums up Hendry’s Rovers contribution.

Hands

A straight choice between Brad Friedel and Tim Flowers.

Flowers was the obvious choice having helped Rovers to the Premier League title.

His shot-stopping was superb but, taking the game as whole, most Rovers fans would probably go for Brad Friedel as ‘the safest hands’ in their Premier League history – and possibly one of the best ever.

The American smashed records throughout his eight seasons at the club and even scored for Rovers, turning a cross into the net at Charlton.

Lungs

Rovers have had their fair share of work horses over the years with determination and hard work a key ingredien.

Robbie Savage would run all day to give Rovers the platform in central midfield.

Tim Sherwood was the one that was impossible to ignore.

The title winning skipper was the driving force of a brilliant side and his hard work allowed the likes of Wilcox, Ripley, Shearer and Sutton to fire Rovers to the title.

Brain

If you approach this literally Graeme Le Saux has to be one of the cleverest players in Premier League history.

He also had a footballing brain and was able to be just as effective at left wing back as he was at left back.

His reading of the game made him an outstanding defender.

It was Le Saux’s brains that saw him come to Rovers in the first place after failing to settle at Chelsea due to being bullied for his intellectual approach.

Eyes

When asked who their perfect footballer was, most Rovers fans would instantly reply ‘Tugay’.

The charismatic Turk became an Ewood Park legend during almost 400 appearances for the club between 2000 to 2009 due to his footballing brain, cultured left foot and love of Rovers.

Operating from a deep midfield position, it was Tugay’s vision that made him stand out from the rest with the ability to pick out killer passes destroying opposition defences.

Tugay could see passes others couldn’t.

Arm

Ryan Nelsen may have lost the armband to Chris Samba but his status as team captain shows the respect he is held in at Ewood Park.

The New Zealand international proved an inspiration for the Kiwi’s in their memorable World Cup campaign and he has been a calming head for Rovers ever since arriving as a free transfer.

Right leg

When describing Ronaldo as the perfect striker, Kevin Gallagher admitted Alan Shearer came the closest to being an all-round striker in the Brazilian’s mould.

A master in the air, full of power, and with a real desire to succeed, Shearer will go down in Rovers’ history as one of their greatest ever players.

David Bentley’s right leg was another option for Rovers fans after the amount of accurate crosses, shots and free kicks he provided during his Rovers spell.

Left leg

He has not always been everyone’s favourite in recent Rovers history but there have been few better ‘left pegs’ in Premier League history than Morten Gamst Pedersen’s.

Damien Duff ran Pedersen close.

Feet

Football fans have always been brought to their feet by entertainers, with a quick jink here and change of feet there, having the supporters in raptures.

For consistency, David Dunn has to be the ultimate Rovers entertainer.
