ASSISTANT boss Jason Tindall has backed Burnley’s sharp shooters to be more than a match for Cardiff City’s hotshots, as the Clarets bid to convert their game in hand to points in the bag.

Much has been made of the strikers at the Bluebirds’ disposal, after Manchester City’s Craig Bellamy raised eyebrows by shunning several Premier League offers to join his boyhood club on a season-long loan.

Allied to Michael Chopra, January signing Jon Parkin and recently-capped England international Jay Bothroyd, Cardiff boast enviable attacking options.

But Tindall believes Burnley are blessed with fantastic firepower too.

“Both sides have got very good strikers. The front four of Cardiff is very good and very strong,” he said.

“But also we believe in the strikers that we’ve got at this football club.

“They all score goals, they’ve got some great attributes so it makes for an exciting game.”

And after putting back-to-back league wins together for the first time in 17 months, with a 3-1 win at Watford, the Clarets are keen to stay on a roll.

“Saturday was a big win for us. It was important that we got back-to-back wins and get that monkey off our back and we look forward,” he continued.

“Everything’s been positive and hopefully now we can continue the momentum.”

And after moving up two places to eighth at the weekend, Tindall is ready to seize an opportunity to make even more ground on the top six with their game in hand.

“We’d much rather the points because it’s a game less we have to play,” he said.
