A MARK Drew penalty was good enough to earn the points as the Rams remained on course for promotion.
Drew converted from the spot in the 55th minute after Joel Pilkington had been flatten-ed in the box.
In the first half, both Pilkington and Phil Dean were denied by the keeper.
Shane Reaney was Congleton’s main threat and he twice forced Graham Shenton into superb saves early in the second half.
After Drew had fired the Rams in to the lead, Reaney miscued in front of goal.
Rams player/coach Anthony Johnson was sent off at full time after remonstrating with the referee.
