BLACKBURN boxer Dezzi Higginson is preparing for his first professional outing in five months after securing another fight on a Sky Sports-televised Hatton Promo-tions bill.

The 28-year-old light-weight, a member of Ricky Hatton’s stable, returns to action in the Premier Suite at Bolton’s Reebok Stadium on Saturday, February 26, with an opponent yet to be confirmed.

The bout will be on the undercard to Steve Foster Jr’s EBU super feather-weight title defence against Belgium’s Ermano Fegatilli.

For Higginson, whose real first name is Graeme, it represents another opport-unity to prove he is worthy of another crack at the English lightweight title.

He lost to Martin Gethin last January for a vacant English belt, and ended 2010 on a disappointing note after suffering a chest infection that kept him out of Ricky Hatton’s birthday boxing show in Manchester before Christmas.

“The chest infection left inflammation on my lungs,” said Higginson. “It would have been great to have fought on Ricky Hatton’s show, because it was a prestigious event. But I had no option but to pull out.

“I was out of action for a couple of months, but now I’m back in the gym and feeling great. I can’t wait to get back in the ring again.

“I think it will be televised by Sky Sports and, fingers crossed, it will be a cracking fight.

“I need a good fight to try and get a chance at a title again. I’m hoping for another shot at an English title, or possibly an area title. That would be fantastic.”

Higginson added: “Bolton’s one of the nicest venues around, there should be a great atmsophere. I hope to bring down as many supporters as I can.”

Hatton Promotions are expecting the show to be a sell-out. Tickets are priced £75 (ringside), £55 and £35 from 0161 775 7500. Tickets can also be purchased from Dezzi Higginson on 07834 355890.
